  • The purpose of this blog is to learn a little more ‘about me’ and to explore and expand my ‘learning portfolio’ using WordPress, which is ‘assignment 3′ for ‘Digital Technology & Communications’ Semester 1 2009.  I am 36 and currently studying Contemporary Art and Communications at ECU Mt Lawley campus in Perth Western Australia. I have only six weeks left to complete my first year and looking forward to the second year of learning and challenges.  I hope I will become a better ‘cultural communicator’ using art as a tool to deliver meaning, posing questions, possibly to make change and to simply enjoy.  What ever God’s will be for me, I am open to and accept with praise and thanks.

  • Whilst vacuuming my floor in a small Scarborough flat in Perth Western Australia situated right on the beach and listening to a radio program (loud!)  four years ago, I heard the announcer say “sometimes God wants us to further our education to do the will of God” and I acted upon this urge to be here, finally as I wanted to do it deep down all of my life. Arriving at this University at the age of 32, when I new it was my God given calling to further studies in this area of Art and Communications.  In order to hopefully serve others, express my God given gifts, even if that is simply for them/you to enjoy the work I love to create and or not?  Or to just simply engage in an individual life experience of some sort from it, then I have succeeded in living, connecting, creating, expressing and being.

  • The image of me floating above was taken by Shane Boyd my partner with assistance from Cushla Gooch who is a very close friend and directed with photographic manipulation in Photoshop by myself in a recent video and photo shoot for an exhibition/assessment for ‘Intro Into Visual Praxis’ the theme was based around body and text with the words blue, movement and shadows. My banner on each page features an image of myself that I photographed into a mirror and then used Photoshop filters to manipulate a paint like quality within my photograph.   I will feature more of my works through out this blog as in many cases ‘digital technology’ has been involved in my process.

  • In addition I will be posting my research results about what a ‘learning portfolio’ actually is and aims to achieve and some ‘useful tips on using the WordPress blog’.  I hope you find this blog mysteriously informative, questionable, interactive, enjoyable and engaging!  Isn’t that what life’s about?  Feel free to express your self and comments are always welcome, so why not get involved right here right now?
